Internship & Career Fair 2024 at Penn State Abington
Employers: Visit our employer webpage for this event to learn more and register.
Why should I attend a Career Fair?
- Find an internship or a job after graduation
- Explore career possibilities with employers
- Make connections for future jobs and internships
- Receive a FREE professional headshot
- Be a part of this signature event
Who will be participating?
Regional and national employers participate. A detailed list of employers participating and their positions available can be found in Nittany Lion Careers in August.
(*Every Penn State student can access Nittany Lion Careers with their Penn State login information. If you have never logged into Nittany Lion Careers, you may be asked to set up a basic profile before continuing to Events.)
Check back frequently in the fall, as new companies will continue to register as the event date approaches.
Explore Nittany Lion Careers and organization websites to find job and internship postings for the organizations that will be in attendance. Use this information to develop your target list. Tell organizations how your skills, experience, and interests match what they look for.
Approach as many organizations as possible. You never know what you will learn or who you will meet that will lead to an opportunity.
Do students or recent alums need to register?
Registration is not required to attend. Any Penn State student or recent alum from any Penn State campus can participate.
We extend a special invitation to our fellow Penn State students at the Brandywine campus. If you are a student at Brandywine, please reach out to your career center for resources and support to help you prepare and attend.
How should I prepare to attend the Internship & Career Fair?
Craft Your Resume
Get started with these tips from Penn State Career Services, or check out the Penn State Career Guide.
Have your resume reviewed at our Resumania event, or upload it to Nittany Lion Careers to be reviewed (this may take a few days depending on demand, so please start early).
Practice Your 30 Second Introduction
Practice what you will say to make a great first impression. Try it out at our Slice & Advice walk-in event or check out these tips from The Balance.
Prep What to Wear
Dress as if you were going to an interview - Business Professional Attire Required. The key is to make a good first impression in clothing that helps you feel confident speaking with an employer. For many, this will be a business suit. Follow these attire guidelines, and view the graphic below for examples:
- Polished, clean, & wrinkle-free
- Interview appropriate or dressier - when in doubt, choose something more professional than you think you need
- Fits your identity and personal style
- Shows you take care in your appearance
Employers say to avoid: flip-flops, sneakers, slippers, pajama bottoms, hair bonnets, shorts, sweatpants, half-shirts, graphic tees, workout wear, hoodies, anything you would wear out to a club or to binge-watch Netflix.
Reach out to Career & Professional Development if you would like to learn about using our Career Closet for professional attire.
